Headshift have approached Betapond to develop a Facebook application to engage the public in
their Future Challenges initiative by allowing Facebook users to share their thoughts on “joined
up thinking” for future policy and to incentivise participants to elaborate on their thoughts
through a competition mechanic.

The application enabled a broad set of users to simply share their thoughts on “joined up thinking” by making a “Connected Statement”. The app then rewarded them through a competition mechanic where all users who created content
around the “joined up thinking” theme were eligible for entry to win.

The overall winner of the competition will be selected through a two-stage process. Stage One is the selection of finalists on merit by the promoter. Stage Two is where the winner is
determined by public voting from the pool of finalists. Each of the stages is six weeks in duration.
